The final weigh in has taken place for the Chelmsford City Supporters Club weight loss Boot Camp and a magnificent 19 stone and half a pound has been shifted after an enticing nine weeks.

The final piece of the Boot Camp was a 32-mile trek to City’s away match at Dartford, where six people took up the challenge. A staggering £1,000 has been secured as a result of the sponsorship pledges and a collection by fans from Chelmsford and Dartford respectively. The final total exceeded all estimates once all the pledges were counted.

Various activities and events have taken place to help shift the pounds left over from Christmas’ overindulgences, included a training session with Glenn Pennyfather, Ben Chenery and the Clarets’ squad, showing their football skills at Melbourne Park. The Dartford walk saw some campers complete a ten-hour walk to watch the away draw at Princes Park to shift the last few pounds for the final weigh-in on Bank Holiday Monday.

The monies raised are going towards improving the club, adding money to projects such as late supporter Ian Hart’s kind donation for a score board, which should hopefully be in place for next season. The money from sponsorship and pledges will also contribute to projects around the clubhouse which are already underway.
